Judge your success with a tape measurer. The scale won't always reflect the changes in your body and tell you whether you're gaining muscle and losing fat. When you are able to fit into your clothes that means that something is happening. That is a good sign you're on the right track.
2. Do not let how you feel control your diet.
Implement strategies to prevent temptation and exposure to sedentary activities or social eating. You can not control everything, but it is vital to control what you can. Do not keep a bunch of chips and unhealthy foods in your home that will look good to you one night when you have had a bad day. Eat only at the kitchen table, not while watching television. Keep your gym membership card handy so you will not find a reason not to go.
Try eating a good snack before you go out for the evening if you are going to be surrounded by food and want to avoid stuffing yourself as you will already be full. Find things to do with others that do not involve eating. It is possible to enjoy many activities without having to stuff yourself.
3. Eat slower
One of the best ways for a person to control what they eat is not to eat too fast. The feeling of fullness and satisfaction is more than filling your stomach. Most people are likely to enjoy their food less as they get more full. Anticipation that comes from seeing and smelling the food goes away once a person has actually started to eat it.
There are any number of ways to monitor yourself and make sure you aren't drifting too far away from your healthy habits, which is very easy to do if you're not paying attention and will keep a person from turning to some plan that promise to teach them how to lose weight fast at home in a week which might work for the short term but is rarely a long term solution.
To get in shape a person has to use their brain as well as their body if they want to be successful. Many people who eat in an unhealthy fashion may tell others that they are fat. If you do not feel good about yourself it is difficult to do something about it.
Once a person does get themselves to a healthy weight, they have to concern themselves with not returning to a unhealthy weight and this is a little different. Make sure to use all of your tools when you are trying to get fit and trim.
